Worldwide Sidewalk Joy Map

The folks at PDX Dinorama have taken on an ambitious project — to chart all the fun things you can find while walking around… the planet. This is a gargantuan task, so their map must be far from complete. But if there’s not a local map for your area, there’s a chance they might have things on this map that are near you. I’m adding this to the Local Maps post category even though the map isn’t local, because it’s tracking the same things the city-specific maps do. If the worldwide map doesn’t show anything… Read More »Worldwide Sidewalk Joy Map

Recently opened in VIENNA, VIRGINIA, the Art Line Free Little Art Gallery is an opportunity for lovers of tiny art to share their work and see what their neighbors have created — and if they see something they love, take it home, free! New in New Orleans

New in NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA, a tiny free art gallery. This is a place where anyone can leave their tiny artworks for others to appreciate, and if they see something they love, take it home to wear or put on the fridge or whatever. There was already one gallery like this (@freelittleartgallerynola at Focis and Rose). The new gallery, NOLAIST (@nolaist_tiny_art_gallery ) is brought to you by your neighbor, Amy Yildizli, and can be found at 955 Navarre Avenue. Welcome to the Free Little Art Gallery community, Amy! I specialize in unique mosaic stone folk art stylized paintings.” Linda Pieri

In the news: Nashville, Tennessee

Nash Today reports on Nashville’s recently opened Free Little Art Gallery on Petway Avenue. You can read the article here. The curators, Jan and Amelia Weiss, have been busy, coordinating with local businesses and planning an event of some kind for April 19th, 2025. Zoom in to the gallery on the map. If you visit the gallery’s Instagram feed, you will also see they’ve been making mini-models of the gallery to put up on bulletin boards around town. These are so cute. Nice going on the community outreach, Jan and Amelia!

In the News: Baton Rouge Little Free Art Library

Yesterday’s issue of The Advocate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, had an article about an art supply exchange. This isn’t a Free Little Art Gallery, but a place to leave or take the raw materials of art. Sponsored by The Walls Project, this not only helps people create without needing to spend a lot of money, but is a great way for artists — by which I mean everyone who creates art — to avoid waste and to try new materials without buying a lot of stuff you might end up not using. Oh course, we… Read More »In the News: Baton Rouge Little Free Art Library
